22 Worthy to Culbone

Park in parking area by the Worthy Toll House (SS858481).

Take the footpath next to the toll house, to Culbone church. The pathway is steep in places and although not botanically rich it is a very pleasant walk. You pass Himalayan Honeysuckle, which is becoming a pest in places and nearer the church itself Strawberry-trees are established in the woodland. The walk is worth the effort to see the church which is very pretty and the smallest complete church in England. These woods also contain some endemic Whitebeams. This is a good place to see Purple Hairstreak butterflies which fly about the tops of oak trees which are often at head height as you walk along the path.
