18 Pinkworthy Pond

There is a parking area at the side of the road, just south of Goat Hill Bridge (SS724404).

Pinkworthy is a man made pond at the source of the River Barle. A track leads from Goat Hill Bridge up to the pond. You pass by Pinkery Farm, which is now an Exploration Centre. If searched carefully the fields by the pathside reveal Moonwort and Adder’s-tongue. The pond itself is very wild and mysterious and has Least Bur-reed and Floating Club-rush, and its damp banks provide habitat for Ivy- leaved Bellflower and Marsh Lousewort.
